Weekly Design Recap 32
It’s been a long weekend as I had to go to work both Saturday and Sunday and since it would have been a chore to go back home to sit and work, I instead brought the laptop to work for the first time to the only sad Starbucks in town, which is always packed. What I like about it is that there are always multiple languages being spoken all at once; this week I heard Greek, Ukranian, Korean and Argentinian Spanish all within 15 minutes. Oh, Europe.
Things I’m working on
Only after a minor modification to the original vector suggested by another designer attached to the project, the Peninsular flag has been successfully finished and approved by the client. Who would have thought that one day I would be paid to design flags?
The store that I work had its inventory done today and Paris HQ sent a horrible, Word-made sign so customers wouldn’t knock on the door to do their grocery shopping on a Sunday, which would be a cause for rioting in France. Anyhow, the thing was horrible and I couldn’t just sit there and do nothing. So I did:
At this rate I have made a decent amount of material for Naturalia; I will bring my good DSLR and shoot all the signs I’ve made.[/text-with-icon][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-heart” color=”Accent-Color”]
Things I’ve enjoyed
I was reluctant at first since Nick Roll can be a bit over the top for my liking but Big Mouth on Netflix exudes candour with a very frank approach to the sexual mess we are during our adolescent days. I highly recommend it even when most of its copious musical numbers make me cringe.
One of my fave games of all time, if not the best game I’ve ever played has come to Switch and oh boy, the fully-priced double dip into Skyrim is more than justified. That I can take it on the go is pretty much a deal maker. I also got Rocket League and I am quite awful at it, which awkwardly means I am enjoying it a lot. Hard not to see how I don’t have much time for design now.

Not considering cortisones, sinusitis and having to set boundaries with bossy people at work, there’s nothing to see here so move along.
[/text-with-icon][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-search” color=”Accent-Color”]Things I’ve learnt:There’s a hidden cost to overnight shipping, which is understandable but nonetheless a shame since Amazon Prime is like Christmas levels of gratification all year round.

Things I’m listening to
I won’t get into details as I’ve only scratched the surface of this podcast recommended by my friend Dave in Sydney, and I have to admit that Russell Brand is a tad too eccentric for my taste but there’s genuine chemistry in these conversations and I will be binging on Under the Skin in the following days.[/text-with-icon]
