Weekly Design Recap 28

Still riding the wave of my holidays in Spain and Switzerland. Got back home and landed a job at a Trader Joe’s of sorts, but all organic. Seems like the only way for me to get a job in France is through knowing the right person in the right place and not because of my own merits. It also marks the years since I started my temporary job at Uniqlo, which was somewhat awful but has taught me a lot in terms of how to deal with customers and that is making my current job a lot easier. It is great to finally have a constant income but it’ll be increasingly difficult —considering my short attention span— to find the time and still do design. Ugh, this adult life.

Things I’m working on

Apart from my blogs I have talked about ad-nauseam since I started this weekly entry, I have not worked on design stuff, except to talk with my client for the latest flag project. What am I doing now, you ask? Restocking shelves, doing customer checkout, and most stressing of all, handling freshly baked bread and counting money. So far, I haven’t lost any money —thanfully I’m being extra careful— but I cannot resist a spongy baguette. Being on my feet all day doesn’t compensate it.

What I need to find now is time to work on a side project because I’m afraid that if I don’t create stuff, I would stagnate.[/text-with-icon][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-heart” color=”Accent-Color”]

Things I’ve enjoyed

Holy shit, Blade Runner 2049. Still swooning over it. I mean, the story isn’t particularly terrible neither incredibly memorable, but those visuals. They will be studying the colour grading, set design and cinematography of this film for years to come.

Things I’m struggling with

Being a morning person, basically. It’s just been one week but my body has been protesting heavily against it and this has led me to the what I’ve learnt this week. Also, I’m being sent to the hospital next week, for the same procedure as last time. Not looking forward to it especially since the food there isn’t great.[/text-with-icon][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-book” color=”Accent-Color”]

Things I’ve learnt

Waking up early is unnatural, makes you unhappy and kills your productivity, but then you feel like shit because you’ve slept in for most of the day; read up. In other stuff, the latest video from Kurtzgesagt is making me pose big questions that keep me up at night.

Things I’m listening to

The one podcast I could get my headphones on was the Forever Alone? two-part series of the Terrible, Thanks For Asking show that I’ve been following since February. Can we be friends, Norah?[/text-with-icon]
